Road tolls slashed for electric cars

ELECTRIC cars are getting road toll discounts of up to 75%.

Charges on the M50 and other major motorways have been slashed in a bid to increase the number of green cars on the road.

The Government scheme could see some private motorists save up to €500 a year and €1,000 for commercial vehicles.

Transport Minister Shane Ross said: “We are starting to see a steady rise in electric vehicle numbers; this can be attributed to improved technological developments and increased battery ranges alongside continued generous Government supports.”
