Appleby confident of more Mas destruction
CHARLIE APPLEBY “can’t find a hole” in Derby hero Masar, who steps back in trip to clash with his elders in Saturday’s Coral-eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
The Godolphin colt (above) is the sponsor’s 5-4 favourite to beat a maximum of nine rivals — Irish Derby third Saxon Warrior was the surprise name among yesterday’s acceptors — in the 10-furlong Group 1.
“I don’t want to be setting myself up for a fall, but I can’t find a hole in him,” Appleby said.
Epsom third Roaring Lion is set to make the Eclipse line-up, but Appleby added: “Masar has got pace, he won at Sandown as a two-year-old and quick ground isn’t a negative for him.
“I’m confident he’s the one to beat.”
5-4 Masar, 2 Roaring Lion, 9-2 Happily, 8 Saxon Warrior, 11 bar.
