Call to ensure best practice by landlords

LANDLORDS should have to display a certificate in rented property to confirm minimum standards are met, Threshold has said.

The charity outlined its proposal to the Oireachtas Committee on Housing on the implementation of an Nct-type certification system yesterday.

Threshold’s Aideen Hayden said: “We live in an era in which employees are afforded protection in the workplace by health and safety regulations.

“Diners in a restaurant can expect the kitchen is regularly inspected and road users are obliged to adhere to measures that ensure vehicles are in sound working order.”
