Comic quota issue is a joke says Joanne

- BY SIOBHAN O’CONNOR

Joanne Mcnally JOANNE Mcnally has said she worries female comics are being thrown up on stage to fill gender quotas.

The 35-year-old Republic Of Telly star told RTE.IE: “I worry sometimes that because people are so excited by female comics at the moment – and rightly so because we’ve been starved of them – they [won’t be given] a chance to learn their craft.”

The actress, who is performing at the Vodafone Comedy Festival this month, also revealed she is moving to London.

She said: “You don’t have to leave Ireland to be a success, you can be a success in Ireland – 100%.

“I’m leaving because there are way more opportunities in London, that’s just the way it is.”
