QUIET STAR TRIPPIER WORTHY OF A SPOT
QUIETLY, Kieran Trippier has put together a very impressive tournament for England.
The Tottenham defender (above) has made the right wing-back position his own for Gareth Southgate’s side and has been a key contributor, both in defence and attack.
The 27-year-old has been diligent at the back but has also made a huge contribution going forwards.
His crossing and excellent delivery from dead-ball situations have been crucial to England’s success so far, while no defender has made more key passes at these finals. His relationship with Harry Kane, developed at club level, is paying dividends while he’s also fostered a smart relationship with Jesse Lingard down the right.
With England expected to dominate the ball against Sweden, Trippier should get more opportunity to impress, while their main threat, Emil Forsberg, will be his direct opponent, so expect him to make plenty of tackles.
He’s certainly worth thinking about for your Five-a-side LIVE teams when we hit the World Cup crunch.
