MODEL STAR RORY FACES INJURY WOE

RORY O’CONNOR has emerged as a big doubt for Wexford’s All-ireland preliminary quarter-final against Westmeath tomorrow.

The 19-year old picked up a leg injury in the closing stages of Wednesday night’s gripping Leinster U-21 final loss to Galway. O’connor (inset), who made his senior championship debut last summer, limped on to the end and looked to have secured victory when he pushed them two points in front late in extra-time. It was O’connor’s fourth Leinster final loss having been defeated in the senior and U-21 deciders last year and in the minor final in 2016.

Senior boss Davy Fitzgerald was in Portlaoise on Wednesday night and will assess the extent of the injury. Eight of the U21 side are in the senior panel.
