When I maintain my fences with wood fence paint I give the caps a coat of outdoor wood varnish for extra protection. It makes it much easier to clean off bird poo!

QI recently applied Bartoline TX10 Paint and Varnish Stripper to remove excess paint from my perspex windows in my summer house. But instead of removing the paint it just solidified and made the perspex go cloudy. What can I do?

Helen Robertson

A

Once the perspex clouds you can’t get it back to clear. Direct sunlight can also affect it. I think you’re just going to have to replace it.

Q

We have a resin-bound driveway and it has started to show rustlike spots in many places. We tried washing them off with soapy water but it didn’t work. Help!

John Clarke

A

Rust spots can form if iron was present in the sand used for the resin mix. Raise it with the firm that laid the drive. If the problem is minor, you could try painting a rust converter on to the spots such as Hammerite Kurust.
