Tasty tie with lots at stake

-

THE most enticing game of the weekend is also the most important in the managerial careers of Kevin Mcstay and Kieran Mcgeeney.

Mcstay (above) was impressive this week when he admitted Roscommon are “at a fork in the road”. It’s a breath of fresh air, always calling it as it is.

He wasn’t happy with the performance against Galway in the Connacht final and, in making three changes, now he’s laying down the gauntlet. It’s you know what time or get off the pot.

It’s a pivotal moment for Roscommon. To lose now against a team coming from Division Three would be a gigantic disappointment and one they possibly won’t get over as a group.

Mcgeeney’s (above) play-off record, meanwhile, has been exceptional - and Roscommon must be very careful. Unless they’re fully tuned up they’ll have problems.

Armagh are playing for Mcgeeney - showing great heart – and they’re missing more than half a team.

Their comeback from four points in the 67th minute against Clare last week is massive for momentum, while Roscommon didn’t perform in the second half against Galway so there’s a difference there.

Roscommon should win but this could be close and it’s massive for both managers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Armagh turned them over and Mcgeeney shows the rest of the country he’s a very good manager.
