The letters A to Z have each been allocated a different number between 1 and 26. The number next to each word in this list is the sum total of the letter values in that word. So, for example, in FOX, F might equal 24, O 8 and X 17, or F might be 4, O 20 and X 25, or any other combinatio­n adding up to 49.
