Killer Molly to get half profits from murdered Jason home Share of €294k will pay legal bills
Home in North Carolina KILLER Molly Martens will reap half the profits from the sale of her murdered husband’s home, it has been reported.
The American is serving a 20 to 25-year sentence for bludgeoning Irishman Jason Corbett to death.
The 34-year-old is entitled to half the proceeds from the couple’s home as the property finally lands a buyer.
The spacious dwelling, which is located in a trendy suburb in North Carolina has sold for $345,900 (€294,000) through estate agency Mays Gibson.
Under US law, half of the profits will go to Martens while the other half will be transferred to the ownership of Limerick man Jason’s estate, belonging to his two children.
But although the killer is set to bag over €144,000 from the sale, most of the costs will go towards paying her legal bills.
Martens is currently appealing the charge that saw her convicted of murdering Jason alongside her father on the night of August 2, 2015. The court heard Martens and her former FBI agent father battered Jason with a paving brick and a metal baseball bat as he slept.
The incident happened the night before he was due to fly back home to Ireland with his kids, whom Martens had developed a strong obsession with.
A book written by Jason’s sister Tracey Corbett-lynch tells how Martens concealed her history of mental health problems from her husband and became troublingly psychotic in the months leading up to the murder.
It has also been revealed she was involved in changing her husband’s life insurance policy to list herself as sole beneficiary prior to his death.
However, due to her murder conviction she has not seen any of the $600,000 (€510,000) payout.
The Sunday Independent reported most of her profits from the home sale will also be swallowed up by legal bills as she fights to overturn her conviction.
