Inquiry after prisoner dies

A PRISONER died yesterday at Maghaberry high-security jail.

The police, coroner and Prisoner Ombudsman were informed of the 33-year-old’s death at the Co Antrim facility.

An NI Prison Service spokesman said: “The prisoner died on Monday morning at a hospital. Next of kin have been informed.

NIPS chief Ronnie Armour added: “I would like to extend my sympathy to the family of the prisoner.”
