Tryan to avoid strike
Pilots & airline bosses in talks to avert stoppages
RYANAIR bosses and pilots will meet for crunch talks tomorrow in a bid to avoid Thursday’s strike.
Travel chaos stills looms for hundreds of families as the Forsa-aligned Irish Airline Pilots Association said industrial action “remains likely”.
The carrier will meet FORSA reps at Dublin Airport after the union refused talks at Ryanair headquarters.
Dec Donnelly at Wimbledon yesterday Lisa Snowdon cools down Spokesman Eddie Wilson said it offered the neutral venue “in good faith” but expected future meetings to take place at its HQ.
He wrote: “We extended our 21st invi- tation to our pilots to meet us in Airside offices today or Tuesday or Wednesday at 10am, so we could avoid disruptions to our customers from an unnecessary pilot strike, which has a mandate from only 27% of our Irish pilots.
“We have already sent you written proposals on union recognition, base transfers, seniority and a new annual leave system.”
While IALPA said action was likely, it added it was determined to work toward resolving the outstanding issue of “a seniority agreement for pilots” at the airline.
