Davy and Model unlikely to take down Banner

-

DAVY FITZGERALD had his difficulties within Clare by the time he left the hot-seat.

But I’m sure that, as the one man who was a part of the county’s three All-ireland winning teams of the last 20 years, there is still massive respect for him there. His Wexford side meet the Banner at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday and of course there will be things said and rivalries renewed this week, but he was appointed by Wexford to get them to an All-ireland semi-final.

That’s the job he’ll be trying to do, and while from an emotional point of view it won’t be easy for him, from a professional viewpoint he will want to do it.

Davy (left) has brought welcome new tactics to the game, and he brings a different dimension to the sideline.

Whether people like it or not, that’s a big part of our game and he deserves support as one of the younger managers out there.

So I think Davy will want to get one up over Clare, certainly, but Clare are a strong side and they should prevail.
