star tells of dream role in Weatherfield soap
RED Rock star Adam Weafer has landed a role on coronation Street and told how the cast have taken him under their wing.
The Dublin actor explained his guest role on the iconic soap is a dream come true and he’d love to make it big in the UK.
Adam said: “It’s only a couple of episodes and it’s got a mad ending to it but I’d be fully open to going back and working with them, it was a great experience.” The 28-year-old plays school teacher Mr Fitzgerald and explained how the role came out of the blue.
He said: “I just got an audition. I have an agent in London who said they want to see you for this. I flew over to Manchester, very last minute, and auditioned. Everyone else was doing an English accent but they said, ‘Adam do you want to try it in your own?’
“Two weeks later I heard back. I had forgotten about it – not in a bad way though. “When you do an audition, you’re told not to think about it, mainly for your own mental health, you don’t want to invest too much into it.
"It’s better to do the audition process and then put it into the back of your mind.
“Two weeks later I found that I was successful, went to Coronation Street and filmed it.” Adam added his castmates were very friendly.
He told TV Now magazine: “They brought me out for a drink after shooting. I couldn’t get over how sound they were.”
Adam also said he couldn’t get over the differences between the shows.
He added: “Red Rock has a tiny little green room but these have their own dressing rooms and massive areas to go relax.”
