WOOD IS BIG-NAME HUNTING

- BY DEAN WILSON

MARK WOOD aims to add Virat Kohli to his list of big-name scalps.

The paceman has a useful knack of dismissing the opposition’s top players in one-dayers, be it David Warner, Steve Smith or Kane Williamson.

But there is no better one-day batsman than India’s skipper Kohli, who has scored a phenomenal 35 centuries. If ever there was a man England need to get out early in their three Royal London matches, starting tomorrow at Trent Bridge, it is Kohli and Wood hopes an element of surprise can work in his favour.

“I haven’t bowled against him yet,” said Wood. “I keep missing India with injury, but in big games I’ve got big wickets – there’s been Kane, Steve Smith, Warner and Faf du Plessis.

“This guy‘s the best player. If I get him out I must be doing pretty well, so I want the challenge.”
