Warning over lack of water

HOUSING Minister Eoghan Murphy has warned there is a risk of water shortages in September unless there is significant rainfall soon.

He said consideration is being given to lowering water pressure at night next week to manage supplies.

Speaking on Drivetime on RTE Radio 1, Mr Murphy added: “The level of rain is nowhere near what we need to replenish our lakes and reservoirs.”
