I’D LOVE TO SAMPLE MORR OF THIS

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

IT killed Gearoid Morrissey to come off on an impressive Champions League debut but he hopes to help Cork climb a football Everest in Warsaw.

City blew scoring chances at Turner’s Cross before Michal Kucharczyk’s superb 79th minute winner for Legia. By then Morrissey was sitting in the stand after over-stretching in the 47th minute.

Boss John Caulfield is not confident the 26-year-old (right) will be back to face the Polish champions next Tuesday but Morrissey himself is hopeful. “I just tweaked my groin I’ll assess it but it seems grand,” he said. “It’s too early to tell but I’ve done it before and knew straight away that it was bad then. This was nowhere near that bad.

“I was trying to play through. It was a sickener to walk out of a game so enjoyable to be a part of.”

Of the second leg he added: “We definitely don’t feel that tie is over. It’s difficult when you go away from home but we showed we can put it up to them.”
