Kane clan feel the pain as cousin crashes out
THERE was disappointment for England fans in a quiet corner of the West of Ireland as the Three Lions were knocked out of the World Cup by Croatia.
England skipper Harry Kane’s late grandad Michael John, was from Letterfrack, Co Galway, and emigrated to England as a teenager.
The Spurs striker, 24, still has relations in the area and the soccer star’s dad Patrick, brother Charlie and Harry are regular visitors.
Harry’s cousin Liz Kane told the Irish Daily Mirror last night: “We are OK, we are very disappointed. We know we’ve a very talented
and much loved cousin to cherish in the Kane household.”
Liz and another cousin Yvonne are awardwinning traditional fiddle players.
Both are regulars in Molly’s bar in Letterfrack in Connemara, which gave away free drinks every time the England captain scored during the tournament.
His cousins Liz, Yvonne and Mark Kane led the celebrations when he scored six goals in the tournament.
The World Cup final between France and Croatia takes place on Sunday.
