Medicinal cannabis is made legal in the UK
Charlotte and son Billy MEDICINAL cannabis is to be made available on prescription in the UK for the first time, it was announced yesterday.
Britain’s Home Secretary made the decision after a campaign by the Mirror’s Northern Ireland edition highlighting the case of Co Tyrone epilepsy sufferer Billy Caldwell.
Billy, who was 13 yesterday, is able to live a more normal life thanks to a few drops of cannabis oil.
Sajid Javid said: “Recent cases involving sick children made it clear to me that our position on cannabis-related medicinal products was not satisfactory.
HISTORY
“Following advice from two sets of independent advisors, I have taken the decision to reschedule cannabis-derived medicinal products – meaning they will be available on prescription.
“This will help patients with an exceptional clinical need.”
Billy’s mum Charlotte, who has battled for medical care for her son for his entire life, said: “I am beyond delighted.
“We have changed history.” ROBBIE Williams and wife Ayda Field look ready to party as they meet Simon Cowell and partner Lauren Silverman for dinner.
The Let Me Entertain You singer, 44, wore a dark floral shirt while Ayda, 39, wowed in a short velvet dress.
X Factor boss Simon, 58, took his new judges to Annabel’s in Mayfair, West London, to celebrate Lauren’s 41st birthday.
And while Lauren showed great taste with a glam black and gold outfit, Simon was decidedly vanilla as he stuck with his trademark blue jeans and white shirt look.
It was over dinner earlier this year that Cowell agreed a deal to have Robbie and Ayda join his ITV show, in an overhaul that included signing former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
The new team is sure to have fans hungry for more.
