Paddy and Marlon The bumbling vet and hapless chef have been best pals in the Dales for 21 years. Paddy AFTER more than a decade apart Dot Cotton and her old pal Dr Legg are to be reunited in Albert Square.
Theirs has been a turbulent friendship, with Dot’s hypochondria testing the patience of even saintly Harold.
Eastenders fans can’t wait to see the duo – played by June Brown, 91, and Leonard Fenton, 92, – together later this year.
But they aren’t the only soap double act to have warmed our hearts over the years... (Dominic Brunt) and Marlon (Mark Charnock) have had each other to lean on throughout their disastrous love lives – even when Paddy got together with Marlon’s ex Rhona, mother of his son Leo. The two nurses have always been the best of friends – making them the perfect team in the busy hospital.
Over the past 30 years, they have both been unlucky in love and leaned on each other when times got tough, which made fans of the show will them to get together.
And that dream came true last year when the pair, played by Derek Thompson and Cathy Shipton, finally tied the knot – earning them the soap nickname “Chuffy”. after her pal Mavis left. The nosey-parker gets on Rita’s nerves, but she still has a soft spot for him.
Barbara Knox and Malcolm Hebden won gongs at the 2006 British Soap Awards. Minty and Garry Motel’s Benny & Diane receptionist. Benny, played by Paul Henry, famously called Susan Hanson’s character
Miss Diane and she taught him to read and write. Diane died of a brain haemorrhage in the motel, leaving Benny bereft. Emmerdale’s original double act.
Pub landlord Amos went into partnership with local businessman Henry, launching his catchphrase “Nay, Mr Wilks”.
They were behind the bar until 1991 when Amos (Ronald Magill) retired to Spain. Arthur Pentelow, who played Henry, died of a heart attack later that year.
