Champs: Hear we go again

- BY DARREN LEWIS

PEP GUARDIOLA saw his Manchester City side smash Chelsea to claim the Community Shield – then revealed he wants another signing before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Sizzling Sergio Aguero burst through the 200-goal barrier with his double as the champions gave an ominous warning of their power.

Guardiola admits he wants another defensive midfielder and should he fail to land one he intends to play John Stones in the holding role.

The Spaniard said: “If no other player arrives I have to find a solution and maybe John can play there.

“We would like to find maybe one more because we don’t have players to substitute Fernandinho, but if he doesn’t come then we will stay as we are.”

Aguero’s goals were his 200th and 201st for City and Guardiola said: “We were really impressed when he arrived.

“He arrived so sharp. “Last year he had an operation on his knee but now he feels free and that’s great news.

“He scored two goals but could have scored three or four or five.”

Guardiola also paid tribute to 18-year-old academy star Phil Foden who outshone new £57million Chelsea signing Jorginho in midfield.

The Italy international snubbed City to move to Stamford Bridge but Guardiola said: “Phil is a player of the first-team.

“So he has the same chances as all the midfield players that we have.

“It is so good to have another player with his talent. He’s a City fan – and a Mancunian and it is so good for us.”
