LEGEND RONALDO IN HEALTH SCARE
Brazilian world Cup winner admitted to hospital in ibiza
BRAZILIAN football legend Ronaldo has reassured fans about his health after reports he had pneumonia.
The retired ace, 41, said he was in hospital but was due to go home today.
He tweeted yesterday: “Friends, I had a strong flu in Ibiza and I had to be admitted to hospital but everything is now in order.
“I’m being discharged and going home tomorrow. Thank you all for your love and messages.”
He was reportedly taken to the island’s Can Misses Hospital in the early hours then transferred to the private Policlinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario.
The star, full name Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, is believed to have arrived on the Balearic Island, where he has a house, a few days ago for a summer.
Ronaldo went down with dengue fever in January 2012 and posted a picture of himself on Twitter hooked up to a drip in hospital alongside the message: “Good morning to all those who began the New Year with dengue.”
He retired from football in 2011 after a glittering career with Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
In his later years he battled with his weight because of a thyroid problem.
Pneumonia is swelling of the tissue in one or both lungs and is usually caused by a bacterial infection.
Symptoms – which include a cough and difficulty breathing – can develop suddenly over 24 to 48 hours.
It can be life-threatening, especially among the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
