FURY’S WALK ON THE WILDER SIDE

Tyson tells Deontay as they clash in Belfast: You’re a bum & need me more than I need you

TYSON FURY and Deontay Wilder caused chaos as they clashed at a hotel in Belfast yesterday.

The heavyweight pair had to be separated as they exchanged words in the reception at the Europa Hotel.

The crazy scenes happened after the weigh-in for tonight’s card at Windsor Park. Wilder (right) was quickly whisked away from the hotel when security finally got the melee under control.

Fury’s father, John, had earlier been restrained as he went for Wilder, after his son weighed-in at 18st 6lb ahead of his fight with Francesco Pianeta this evening.

The former world heavyweight champion is expected to easily beat little-known Pianeta, and then promoter Frank Warren will confirm his clash with Wilder is on in November.

Fury is set to earn more than £10million when he faces Wilder in Las Vegas, and said: “I’ll butcher Wilder, you watch. I am going to flatten Pianeta and against Wilder, I will not run around the ring from him, no way.

“I don’t care if I get knocked down by the first hit, I will stand and fight with that bum.”

Unbeaten Fury, who defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to take the crown as the lineal champion, insists Wilder is the one making all the running to set up the cash-laden clash.

He said: “I’m not fighting him, he’s fighting me. It is his chance, it is his chance to fight for a lineal title. This isn’t me having a chance to fight him for a belt, this is his chance to fight a legend of the game.

“Make no mistake, Wilder is not a pay-per-view fighter in his home country.

“He’s never ever done a pay-per-view fight. I am the draw on this side of the fight – without me, he goes back to fighting some bum for a million dollars.

“If I beat Deontay Wilder in America, what have I done, beat another boxer? What am I gaining? But if he beats me, he gains the lineal status in the heavyweight division and it will continue on. So he needs me more than I need him.”

And Fury admitted reaching the pinnacle of the division again will not fulfil him. He said: “All the belts will just add to the collection I have.

“Like Mike Tyson said, as a kid these belts are of some use and you think they’re something.

“But when you’ve actually got them, you realise they are just a bit of metal with some leather welded on them.

“What inspires me is looking in the mirror every morning and seeing myself in shape. That inspires me. I see myself in shape.

“Last year, I was looking in the mirror seeing myself 27 stone and obese. Now I look in the mirror and I’m an Adonis.

“I beat Klitschko, I climbed that Everest and I thought that would be enough.

“In my own mind, I thought, ‘That’s me done now’.

“I never thought I would fight again.

“But I feel unfulfilled and, until that feeling is gone, I need to fill whatever is wanting and I will continue to search the globe for that contentedness.”
