GARDAI yesterday warned revellers not to fall for a fake ticket scam ahead of Electric Picnic this weekend.

More than 50,000 festival-goers will head to Stradbally Hall in Co Laois to see Kendrick Lamar, Dua Lipa, George Ezra and The Prodigy perform.

Each year the popular festival sells out months in advance and many music fans are still hoping to get their hands on tickets.

However, gardai urged them to be very wary when looking online.

A spokesman said: “Fake print-at-home tickets for Electric Picnic are being sold online.

“This format has not been used for Electric Picnic and we would recommend the public do not buy from unauthorised or unknown sources.

“An Garda Siochana is also warning third-party payment sites are being used to take money off unsuspecting fans in these scams.”

Det Chief Supt Pat Lordan, of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau, added: “We are working closely with the organisers to prevent fans being left disappointed by the activities of criminals.

“It is important to stress the print-at-home format is not being used for Electric Picnic and that the public only buy tickets from authorised sources.”

Meanwhile, excited festivalgoers were starting to work themselves into a frenzy yesterday after the stage times was announced.

On Friday Chvrhces will rock the main stage from 7.30pm until 8.30pm with Co Kerry band Walking On Cars entertaining the crowds from 9pm until 10pm.

Hip hop superstar Kendrick Lamar will finish off a memorable opening night by performing from 10.40pm until midnight.

Dua Lipa is scheduled to take to the main stage at 8.45pm until 9.45pm on Saturday, with US hip hop and rock band N.E.R.D up from 10.30pm until 11.30pm.

And dance legends Massive Attack are the last act to play on the second night with their wide-ranging mix of tunes.
