Warm weather music to our ears.. but rain is forecast

REVELLERS set to attend Electric Picnic better pack their wellies as Met Eireann predicts it could be a damp one.

It’s not all bad news though as the balmy summer weather is set to stick around with temperatur­es in the low 20s predicted into the weekend.

The mercury should sit around the 20C mark and it should remain dry. Friday is also looking to be dry and bright with some light drizzle expected in coastal areas.

While it’s not quite an Indian summer, the heat will be welcome for both Electric Picnic attendees and the 80,000 people who are set to pack into Croke Park for the All-ireland final showdown between Dublin and Tyrone.

Saturday and Sunday look to be mostly dry, with rain predicted to be sparse and only in the north and west.

Met Eireann wrote on its website: “Friday is looking mainly dry and bright in many areas but with a risk of some rain for a time in Southern counties.

“Temperatur­es between 15C and 19C at highest in light to moderate southeaste­rly winds, the winds fresher around coasts.

“Overnight, there is the risk of some outbreaks of rain countrywid­e. During the weekend it looks a little milder with good dry periods and some sunny spells but the risk of some rain or showers also, especially on Sunday.”
