Punter scoops €4.7m Lotto

- BY John patrick kierans

A LOTTO player has become Ireland’s latest millionaire after scooping the €4.7million jackpot last night.

The player, from the North-east, matched all six numbers to snatch the top prize.

The winning numbers are 26, 27, 35, 40, 41 and 42 and the bonus ball is 7.

And an online player struck gold in the Lotto Plus 2 draw to lift the €250,000 prize.

The good luck continued with a group of eight work colleagues bagging €500,000 in the Euromillions Plus draw.

The syndicate bought their golden ticket at the Mace convenience store in Walkinstown, South Dublin, on Friday, and will take home €62,500 each.

TICKET

But the group had an anxious wait to see if they had won after their ticket was left locked in their office over the weekend.

Speaking at Lotto HQ, one of the winners said: “There was a flurry of messages between us all on Saturday morning when news of the winning store was announced.

“We knew there was a small chance that we had the winning ticket but the ticket was left in a drawer in the office so we had a very anxious wait until somebody made their way in and actually checked it.

“Thank God it turned out to be the winner as I think we worked ourselves up so much we just assumed it was us.”

Meanwhile, an Offaly man has won €50,000 on a scratch card.

The Bingo Times 10 Scratch Card was sold at the Spar shop on Patrick Street, Tullamore.

He said: “This will be a huge help in getting a mortgage for my first home. I am thrilled.”
