THE iconic Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort is on course to be sold with an asking price of €45million.

The luxury five-star property sits on a 349-acre estate in Co Wicklow and has been dubbed the “Augusta of Ireland”.

Savills is handling the sale and its director of hotels and leisure Tom Barrett said: “Druids Glen Resort is one of the jewels in Irish hospitality.

“Located within the growing Greater Dublin area, home to 1.9 million people, it will appeal to domestic and international buyers.”

The 145-bedroom hotel is accompanied by Druids Glen and Druids Heath golf courses, the first of which has hosted four Irish Opens and the Seve Trophy.

Winners on the course include Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie and former Masters champion Sergio Garcia. The courses were designed by Pat Ruddy and former Irish golfer Tom Craddock.

The clubhouse, known as Woodstock House, was built in 1770 by the

Earl of Aldborough’s clan.

It was once used as a writing and recording base by famous musicians, including Mike Oldfield, Rod Stewart, Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi.

The hotel opened in 2002 as a Marriott resort and was refurbished in the past four years.

It contains eight conference and event rooms, spa, health club and dining options including Hugo’s Restaurant, the Garden Rooms and Bar and Sycamore Lounge.

Chief executive Edward Stephenson said: “The Druids Glen Resort has grown year on year and has become one of Ireland’s key destination resorts. “Situated in close proximity to Dublin, it caters for over 130,000 visitors, both domestic and international, every year.” Aerial shot of course

THIS has to be the cheapest home in the country – and no huts about it.

While house hunters shed tears trying to find an affordable property this one in Dublin could be theirs for €12,000.

And while it might be a first step on the property ladder, you’ll need a ladder to get to the bedroom.

Another drawback is the buyer must assemble the house on their own site.

On the ground floor of the cabin, which is for sale on Donedeal, is a living room/kitchen, bathroom and utility area.
