It’s hit & bliss now for Khan

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

AMIR KHAN feels back on top of the world and says he was “lost” without boxing.

Khan is happy again and his thrilling comeback win over Samuel Vargas on Saturday was the most watched non pay-per-view fight on UK subscription TV ever.

He remembers a very different time when he rowed with his family and threatened to divorce his wife Faryal because he was so frustrated at not being able to box for two years.

Khan, 31, who is now in talks with Manny Pacquiao over a December showdown, said: “Me being out of the ring and having that hand injury, it does play on your mind.

“What I do best is boxing, I’m a fighter. When you take that big thing out of your life, you’re lost. I had all that energy in me and I just didn’t know what to do.

“It did wind me up. I started going against my family, my friends, causing problems everywhere. I was like a ticking bomb.

“Now I’ve got everything sorted, I’m boxing again and diverting my energy into the right things and everything is flowing.”

Khan’s family keep him grounded and Faryal kicked him out of bed yesterday morning, even though he had not slept because of his jetlag, to take their eldest daughter Lamaisah to school for her first day.

He is enjoying spending time with his family before heading back to California at the end of the month to begin his next training camp. “That was me back to earth with a bang,” said Khan. “She never comes to the fights and her attitude is, ‘You’re back home now, do your jobs’.”
