DOMHNALL Gleeson said he would always want to work with his dad despite the veteran actor saying it is a risky business.

The 35-year-old credited his awardwinning father Brendan as being one of the best in the business and told the Irish Mirror he looks forward to their next joint project.

The Harry Potter star said: “I’d always love to work with my dad.

“We did a short film together he directed and acted in just before Christmas so we worked together reasonably recently.

“I will look forward to doing anything else with him again, he’s just one of the best around.”

Short film Psychic was a real family affair involving all four of Brendan’s sons – it was written by Rory, starred Domhnall and Brian while Fergus did the music.

It was Brendan’s directing debut and he admitted working with family can be challenging.

He told Irish Mirror: “You have to be true to the work but at the same time I don’t want to lose my family.

“If you are working with family, well you have to put the family at the top of the tree. You don’t want the work to suffer and so it can get a bit ropey.”

But despite the risks and challenges involved, the award-winning actor from Dublin, said: “I like working with them, it kind of keeps me on my toes.”

The 63-year-old explained how they managed to make it work, and said there must be a “shift” in priorities when it comes to mixing business with pleasure. Brendan said the family project even allowed him to spend more time than usual with his musical son Fergus, who he described as “his righthand man” on the project.

Joking about how the family came out of the project, he added: “It’s fascinating and, touch wood, we’re still talking.”

The doting dad added he’d never rule out future family work, saying he’d be “crazy” not to work with his sons again.

He added: “I’d just hope we’d all just loosen up a small bit, especially me.”

Domhnall was in town for the European Premiere of his latest starring role in Lenny Abrahamson’s The Little Stranger at The Light House Cinema in Dublin on Wednesday evening.

His dad Brendan also stepped up to support him.
