Food in British Airways’ short-haul business cabins is getting an upgrade.

The initiative in Club Europe – where meals are complimentary – is part of the flag carrier’s current €4.8billion five-year investment plan and will feature improved recipes with seasonal British produce and signature warm bread.

Launch options on Heathrow and Gatwick routes will include shaved Herefordshire roast beef on a tartar cream with rocket, pork sausage and mash, and a

celebration of UK cheeses.

Drink options will also be refreshed with new wines available and coffee from British speciality firm Union Hand-roasted.

For short-haul economy passengers, the buy-on-board M&S range will be updated for autumn, including a new vegetarian sandwich selection.

The BA investment also includes the installation of wi-fi, power points at every seat, refurbishment of 128 long-haul aircraft interiors and delivery of 72 new jets. ba.com

■A second online auction of memorabilia from Heathrow Terminal 1, which closed in 2015, will be held next week to give aviation fans a second chance to snap up a souvenir.

The first sale in April was a huge success with toilet signs in particular proving very popular.

This auction is of 150 lots with more signs (yes, including toilets), rows of seats, chairs and rope barriers which were used in what was once the busiest airport terminal in Europe, handling nine million passengers a year. It opened in 1968.

The auction starts at 6pm on Tuesday and the catalogue is open for advance bids now at cagp.com

■American Airlines will launch Boeing 777-200 flights between Heathrow and Phoenix, Arizona, on March 31. Return fares start at €837. americanairlines.co.uk
