Microsoft to hire 200 extra staff
Dublin site TECH giant Microsoft has announced it is to hire 200 more staff.
It wants engineers to work on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence for customers around the globe, as well as a range of other roles at its Dublin site.
The intake will bring its Irish workforce to 2,200.
Microsoft Ireland’s managing director Cathriona Hallahan said: “Our broad-based expansion reflects the dynamism, energy and continued transformation of our team in Dublin.
“We are working with businesses, governments, organisations and people across the globe to help make our vision a reality, helping them to do and achieve more.” HIS famous guitar riffs thrilled rock fans and now Rory Gallagher’s memory is being kept alive thanks to a €15 collector coin.
The Donegal-born musician is featured in his trademark pose, tearing up his Fender Stratocaster. The silver proof coin was presented by Central Bank governor Philip Lane to President Michael D Higgins yesterday to mark the 70th anniversary of Gallagher’s birth.
The guitarist’s brother Donal was also at the unveiling.
One of the biggest Irish acts of all time, Rory died in 1995 aged just 47.
