‘I was stalked on the Dart by serial rapist’

Mother warns women after ordeal

A MUM has warned women after a man she believes to be serial rapist Paul Moore followed her on a train.

The sicko, 52, is living in Dublin after serving an 18-month term for sexually assaulting a victim on a Dart in 2014.

The young mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, told of her ordeal after she encountered the man yesterday.

She said: “I work in town and get the Dart twice a day every day.

“Today I was feeling sick so I left work about 10.30 and went to Tara Street.

“There was a Dart to Malahide due at 10.39 but it was delayed a few minutes.

“I was approached by a man who asked me a question and continued on rambling a sob story about having cancer. He had mentioned he was going Michael Davitt to Howth so I was hoping to ditch him as my Dart arrived, thinking he needed a different Dart but he boarded with me.

“I remember reading a story a while back about this guy but didn’t for a second put two and two together.

“He showed me a letter addressed to a Paul Moore care of Midlands Prison, at which point I realised something wasn’t right.”

The woman, from Portmarnock, North Co

Dublin, was relieved when the perv got off at Raheny Station. She said she was calm about the incident but “some poor woman may not be and I felt it is important people know he is about”. The woman contacted gardai after Moore left the train and said he was wearing grey denim jeans, black shoes, a shirt and navy blazer.

She added: “He had grey, recently-cut hair and grey stubble.”

Moore was also convicted of raping women in 1995 and 2001, while he also sexually assaulted three others in 2014 and 2015. A Probation Service report said he showed no remorse and posed an indefinite danger to women.

Last year, Judge Melanie Greally said Moore’s inability to desist from offending, regardless of the consequences or punishment imposed, was a matter of real concern to the court.

She added the legal system did not allow for preventative detention regardless of compelling arguments.

When sentencing him for the sex attack on the Dart, Judge Greally ordered Moore keep to a curfew from 10pm to 8am for the next 10 years.

He is also not allowed to take alcohol when in public and has been ordered to address his booze intake.
