DONNY’S TOP TIP

-

If you have a painted door which is sticking slightly, just run a lead pencil down the edge which closes against the door frame. The graphite in the pencil is a great lubricant and will cure the sticking.

QThere is a two-foot length of ceiling in my daughter’s bedroom that drips condensation and is growing mould. The room is approx 18ft x 9ft and it’s the only place on the ceiling that this happens – next to an outside wall. I’ve been in the loft and can’t see any issues. Can you advise what can be done please?

It sounds to me as if you have an extension. Where the room is attached to the wall you need to insert a cavity tray. Any rainwater running down the wall above the extension will hit the cavity tray and not make its way down the wall into the room. This should help to dry out the ceiling and internal wall solving your problem.
