HOOPS HOPE TO HEAP MISERY ON

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

Derry City v Shamrock R

SHAMROCK ROVERS head to the Brandywell with no fresh injury concerns as they target a European finish.

Trevor Clarke, Luke Byrne and David Mcallister are out for the season but Stephen Bradley otherwise has a full deck.

Derry need to bounce back after Bohs dumped them out of the FAI Cup on Wednesday - three days after they won the EA Sports Cup.

Bradley (above) said: “I’m sure they’ll want a reaction. Of all the times we played Derry this season, I thought our best performance was at the Brandywell in April.

“We just couldn’t score on the day. It’s strange how it works. This year we’ve beaten them twice and drawn but none of that matters now.”

Candystripes boss Kenny Shiels said: “We have to strive to finish as high as we can and see where that takes us.

“There are still six games to go so we’ll be looking for a big finish over the next few weeks.”

Conor Mcdermott – who had a hip operation last weekend – is Derry’s only absentee.
