Neves: Wolves can prey on big beasts

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

RUBEN NEVES said Wolves are ready to frustrate more Premier League big guns after earning a deserved point at Manchester United. Having already held champions Manchester City to a 1-1 draw this season, Wolves did the same to United, playing with style and a swagger at Old Trafford.

Neves insisted Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are not fazed by playing the so-called ‘bigger’ sides and intend to bring more of them down to size this season.

“We want to do this every game,” said Neves (left, taking on Paul Pogba). “We want to play every game like it’s the last game of our lives. It’s our job. You can’t think about what you’re going to do in the future until you’ve done things in the present.

“We always want to play good football and play like it’s the last game of our lives. We can’t think about the opponent all the time. If we do things right, it’s easier for us. We’re never going to be afraid to play our football.

“They’re not superheroes. They are players and if we do things well, we can make it difficult for other teams. We’re difficult to play against. It’s not easy for opponents to play against us.”

Neves, 21, lauded his experienced midfielder partner Joao Moutinho, 32, who scored the equaliser and was the man of the match.

“It’s very good playing with Joao,” said Neves. “He’s very experienced, very smart. He’s a very intelligent player, it’s very easy to play with him.

“I want to learn off him. I’m fortunate to play with him and have learned a lot. He’s played Champions League a lot of years, European champions with Portugal, I want to improve with him.”
