Byrne’s Rte absence fuels reunion rumours
2FM star Nicky Byrne was absent from the airwaves yesterday amid speculation Westlife are set to reunite.
The 39-year-old Dubliner dodged the spotlight as reports continue to circulate about the group getting back together.
Nicky’s radio co-host Jenny Greene presented yesterday morning’s show by herself, claiming she had no idea of the boyband star’s location.
When questioned on air about his whereabouts and if he had a big announcement to make, Jenny responded: “I don’t know where he is. He’s not here today – I’m on my own. What announcement? He’s not pregnant, I know he looks it but he’s definitely not.”
Nicky and his wife Georgina spent the weekend in Edinburgh where they ran the Scottish Half Marathon, but the couple left the city on Sunday evening.
It has been reported he and his bandmates Shane Filan, Markus Feehily and Kian Egan are preparing for a reunion – six years after their final show in Croke Park.
The famous foursome are said to have teamed up with Ed Sheeran to pen their comeback single. Despite the rumours, Westlife have yet to officially confirm the reunion is on the cards.
Earlier this year, Nicky said it would be “great” for the band to get back together.
He told RSVP Magazine: “Next year we’re 20 years since we released Swear It Again, the year after we’re 21 years.
“One day it would be great to do it again but it’s not happening until you hear from the four of us.”
