- BY CONNELL MCHUGH

THE heartbroken daughter of a missing man last night appealed for information, 20 years after he vanished.

Matthew Carroll, aged 30, was out celebrating a win for Carew Park soccer club in the Roxboro Road area of

Limerick when he went missing on June 8, 1998.

He visited his mother Theresa’s home in Keyes Park to see if she had got a new battery for his watch and then continued on to the Steering Wheel pub.

But the father of one left a group of friends at the Roxboro Shopping Centre to walk the short distance home and was never seen again. Matthew’s daughter Trudy was just five years old when he went missing. Speaking on Crimecall last night, viewers saw the impact his disappearance had had on her.

Trudy said: “When dad went missing I was really young so I have some memories but I don’t really have many.

“I feel that I missed out on a lot because I can see it in my two year old, the strong bond he has with his dad and I didn’t have a chance to have that with mine.”

Matthew’s brother Seamus told of the toll the ordeal has had on the rest of the family.

He said: “My mother went to her death bed not knowing where he is.

“Even just to bury a bone, she would have been happy with that.” ■■Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimecall on 1800 40 50 60.
