GAGA is the fourth leading lady to take the A Star is Born role.

The original 1937 version starred Oscar-winning silent film star

She was Oscar-nominated for her role and the film won Best Screenplay. Dorothy Parker was one of its writers.

Co-star was also an Oscar winner, Best Actor in 1932 for Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Garland’s third husband – of five – was Sidney Luft, who produced the film and was her manager. In 1963 she sued for divorce. She died of an overdose six years later, aged 47.
