Bookies fearing €7m payout if dubliner wins

- BY EAMON DOGGETT

CONOR Mcgregor will empty the bookies’ pockets if he can beat Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The gambling industry is facing losses of close to €7million should the Notorious can reclaim his lightweight crown this weekend.

Mcgregor has not fought in the octagon for two years and is the 6/4 underdog to beat the undefeated Russian.

But Irish punters are throwing their money on the Dubliner with 85% of all bets placed going on a Notorious comeback win.

The odds compilers will have an even bigger payout if he wins in one round with many of his supporters backing him to get the job done early.

Paddy Power said: “It’s squeaky bum time on our trading floor as we prepare for the red-eye shift to watch Khabib v Mcgregor tomorrow night – a fight which could see us shelling out millions.

“An early Notorious victory would be our biggest loser, though there’s been a surprising number of bets placed on Khabib as the week has gone on, with many reacting to last night’s press conference.

“Maybe this can be Conor’s way of getting us back for supporting Mayweather over him in Vegas.” To win the fight
