FINDING JOY?

RTE One, 9.35pm

AMY Huberman is back on our screens tonight with a new six-part comedy drama series Finding Joy.

Written and starring Huberman, the Dublin actress plays the lead role as Joy, who finds herself thrust into the limelight as she tries to get over a break-up. Hanna Scott portrays her pal Trish.

In a Bridget Jones-type scenario she finds herself covering for a top vlogger at News Today.

She is spurred on to agree to the job because she has just seen a social media post of her ex Aidan with some hot new girl. And maybe this new venture can prove to Aidan that she is not the rigid and controlling person he suspects her of being. And, with any luck, she may even be able to prove that to herself.

Joy’s unpolished pieces turn out to be a hit with the News Today subscribers.

And she has quite the time of it as she ventures into the strange and hair-raising world of therapeutic wrestling, internet dating, group therapy and life-changing abseiling.

However, Joy comes to realize that her professional journey may be able help her negotiate her personal dramas. If you think you spot a familiar face while watching this, your eyes aren’t deceiving you.

This week Amy revealed her husband – former rugby star Brian O’driscoll – makes a split-second appearance in Finding Joy.

But she said he wasn’t trying to steal her thunder and only wanted to appear on-screen very briefly.

Amy said: “It is a really small little thing and we were actually hoping people would be like, ‘is that, is that? What?’

“He was really happy to come in and do something. It’s only little, like a, ‘Blink and you miss it’, which is what he wanted.”
