LOVE/HATE star Robert Sheehan has admitted he used his fame to have sex with fans.
The 30-year-old, who shot to stardom as Dublin gangland killer Darren, also admitted to being sexually aroused during a steamy scene with co-star Ruth Negga.
In an explosive interview with Hot Press, the Portlaoise-born actor, who has starred in movies and TV series, also reveals how he:
■ First tried drugs as a teen and wants cannabis to be legalised in Ireland
■ Sexually experimented with men when he younger to see if he liked it
■ Had friends with benefits he’d call up to come around for sex, and
■ Split from with his girlfriend of four years Sofia Boutella.
Asked if he had ever had sex with a fan, Sheehan told Hot Press magazine: “Yeah, absolutely. Yes, I have.”
Pressed on if he’d taken advantage of being famous, he added: “Yeah, definitely I have, absolutely – in many different ways. Yes, I have.”
And asked if it’s a buzz to have women coming on to him, he laughed: “It is a buzz yeah. It is a great buzz. It happened a few times over the years. I think we might not go into the details.”
London-based Sheehan admitted he often got lonely and frustrated when he
was younger and that sometimes led to a late night booty call.
He added: “I used to get sexually frustrated and then make the call in the evening. I used to have people, like if I was in London for a period of time, you’d meet up with them and we had pretty much exclusively sexual interactions. I used to have that but I don’t any more.”
The former Misfits star says he doesn’t have an issue doing sex scenes if he feels comfortable with the other person.
And he even admitted getting turned on during a steamy scene with Love/ Hate co-star and Oscar-nominated actress Ruth Negga.
Robert added: “Luckily, we were very comfortable with one another. And she is, of course, a beautiful, beautiful young woman – so there may have been the occasional erection that popped up there.”
And the handsome actor opened up about his experimentation with men in his younger years.
Asked if he ever questioned his sexuality growing up, he said:
“Yeah, of course.
“I think it would be irresponsible not to question it.
“I had a couple of experiences when
I was younger with dudes where
I tried it, experi- mented, to see if it did anything for me. And it didn’t. But I gave it a go.
“I had a few pints, I was quite tipsy – they loosened me up – and then I had a pop. I bowed out after a couple of
minutes.” Robert told how he occasionally smokes dope and thinks Ireland should adopt a model similar to the legalised cannabis clubs in Spain.
The star, who first lit a joint at 17, said it was “barbaric” that the act of taking a drug is still illegal. He added: “It’s f***ing mad because when you put the production of drugs in the hands of criminals, the drugs are going to be of such s**t quality.
“They will completely f**k people up. Think about it – the idea of

criminalising the act of taking a drug... what does a drug do for you? A drug either makes you feel good or it masks some deep mental problem that you’ve got going on.
“To criminalise that act is just f***ing barbaric. This war on drugs attitude is ridiculous.”
Speaking about his recentlyended relationship with French-algerian actress Sofia,
36, Sheehan said: “We loved each other a lot. We had a similar life, which was problematic. Long distance.
“A lot of long distance, which was tough. It put a strain on things. But she’s a magnificent person. She really is. Luckily, we’re still friends. We still love each other a lot.”
Speaking about the #Metoo campaign, he added: “It makes you selfexamine and it makes you ask yourself, ‘Am I being compassionate enough to women about their position in society, challenges they have to face?’
“I think in that regard it has been very helpful.”
Sheehan’s latest movie The Song Of Swan Lake was released last month.
