Thyne for a Walsh comeback

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

GOOD THYNE TARA should give Ruby Walsh a welcome winner as he makes his latest return from injury in Limerick tomorrow.

Walsh’s latest absence stretches back to August 25, when he sustained rib injuries in a fall in Killarney. And, with two booked rides, he should get back in the winning groove, if not on his comeback ride Getareason, which might struggle against Air Supremacy in the opener, on favourite Good Thyne Tara in the listed Maurice Power Solicitors Irish EBF mares Hurdle.

This Willie Mullins-trained mare, sixth to stablecompanion Sharjah in the Guinness Galway Hurdle, bolted-up when making all in a listed event at Gowran Park last week. And tomorrow’s race looks at the mercy of the 144-rated eight-year-old.

Of course, tomorrow is Munster National day in Limerick. And Gordon Elliott, always a force in these staying handicap chases, holds a strong hand in a race he won two years ago with subsequent Aintree hero Tiger Roll.

His Alpha Des Obeaux, 9lb higher than when runner-up to Total Recall in this race last year, tops the weights but might struggle with that concession to the likes of stable-companion Rogue Angel, a former winner of both the Irish Grand National and Kerry National and third to Snow Falcon in the latter event at Listowel last month.

He looks nicely-weighted with 10-5 to carry in a field which also includes fascinating, long-absent stable-companion Our Father, local hope Black Scorpion, up 11lb for a win in Listowel, and Spider Web, a faller in the Galway Blazers when last seen but capable of winning a pot of this type.
