VIPS BLOW IN TO SEE PRINCESS EUGENIE TIE THE KNOT
THE Queen’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie married at Windsor Castle yesterday in front of a guest list of royals, aristocrats and VIPS.
The 28-year-old younger daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson tied the knot with drinks industry executive Jack Brooksbank, 32, in the castle’s 15th Century St George’s Chapel.
The venue was also chosen by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their wedding in May.
Prince Andrew claimed his daughter, who is ninth in line to the throne, had to get married at the 800-seater Windsor Castle chapel because she has “so many friends”.
Hollywood A-listers, singers, artists and TV stars were all invited – making it arguably the most starstudded royal wedding ever.
Actress Demi Moore, models Naomi Campbell,
Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, crooner James Blunt and Livin La Vida Loca singer Ricky Martin were just some of the big names.
Former soccer star Jamie Redknapp, comedians Jack Whitehall and
Jimmy Carr joined pop stars Ellie Goulding and Robbie Williams in attendance. Robbie’s actress partner Ayda Field, who joined her husband as a judge on The X Factor, even caught controversy for potentially forgoing wedding etiquette after arriving in an off-white dress.
Among others taking their VIP seats in the chapel were and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, Pixie Geldof, Harry’s ex Chelsy Davy , artist Tracey Emin, and TV presenter Richard Bacon.
The bride wore a designer wedding dress by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, rumoured to cost more than €170,000. The couple enjoyed several rounds of celebrations, with an afternoon reception inside Windsor Castle for their 800 guests, followed by a black tie do for 200 “close family and friends” at the Duke of York’s residence Royal Lodge last night.
Today they will entertain 200 guests again for a “festivalthemed” day in the castle grounds, complete with fairground and food stalls.
