IT’S SIMPLE ..WE MUST STOP SIMON Addison fears brilliant Irishman Zebo

- By ORLA BANNON

WILL Addison says Ulster must stop a Munster man in Paris tomorrow.

Ulster’s new utility back has only been involved in Irish rugby for a few weeks but knows about wing wizard Simon Zebo, who’ll be leading the charge for Racing 92 in the Heineken Champions Cup this season.

“He’s been immense in Racing’s first few games in the Top 14 and he’s definitely a danger man and we’ll be looking out for him,” said Addison.

“He’s an incredibly instinctive and talented player and that’s always a bonus when you’re playing in France because the game is so fluid.

“It can be forward-dominated and if you are a back that just likes to get the ball in your hands, then you do your own thing almost.”

Meanwhile Addison, 26, admits it would be “an absolute privilege” to play for Ireland but insists he’s not expecting a speedy call-up to the national side.

The English-born back qualifies for Ireland through his Fermanagh mother.

Despite only making the move to Ulster a few months ago, he’s already been tipped to wear the green jersey in next month’s autumn series.

The ex-sale Sharks skipper trained with the Irish squad in the summer while he was on holiday in Australia after an invite from head coach Joe Schmidt and an international debut seems inevitable.

But he claimed: “If that were to happen it would be an absolute privilege, but I’ve got to play more than three games”.

“That’s all I’ve played for Ulster so far. I’ve just been focusing on my rugby here. I’ve been enjoying it and that (Ireland) is kind of secondary.

Addison was the best player as Ulster got their Champions Cup campaign off to a flier last Saturday.

But things will get even tougher tomorrow with an away clash against Racing – last season’s beaten finalists.

Another sparkling display and Addison will definitely get Schmidt’s attention but for now he’s loving being back in Europe.

“It was one of the main reasons for me coming here,” revealed Addison, “to have that opportunity almost year in, year out.”
