One Drink won’t be too many for Picture This pair

- By KATIE GALLAGHER

Picture This are throwing a Halloween homecoming party to celebrate their triple threat announcement this week.

The band of the moment, hailing from Athy, Co. Kildare announced on Wednesday that they will embark on a five-night stand at the 3Arena in March, followed by a wider European Tour.

They also revealed their new single One Drink which will feature on their long-awaited second album MDRN LV, set to be released in stores and online on February 15.

And to top it all off, they announced that they will join the likes of Ariana Grande (circled) and Drake having signed with major US record label Republic Records.

Speaking to The Beat after the announcements, drummer Jimmy Rainsford revealed that fellow band member, Bass player Cliff Deane will be hosting a dress up party at Halloween to celebrate and unwind after the news.

Cliff joked: “We should probably advertise it here now. And yeah of course, it’s a Halloween party sure you have to dress up but i’ll probably dress up as Cliff from Picture This though. But it should be good.

And while the party marks some massive news this week, Jimmy said the celebration will also be a bit of a novelty for the whole band, who haven’t been home for the occasion in years.

“Well the last two years we’ve been away and I haven’t personally been home for Halloween personally myself in about five years, I’ve just always been away with stuff different things in my life just, so this year will be the first time.

“Although we are actually leaving the day after Halloween, we are going to America but its, but I think we should have the party Cliff.”

Excited to get back on the road afterwards he added: “We are going to be doing a lot of travelling and we are doing a lot of different stuff over the next few months.

“Like this is only the tip of the iceberg. It’s not like we are putting out a song and you have to wait for the album, like there is so much more music coming and so much stuff, just content from the last year is just gonna be coming out and there is just a lot to come.

“That’s what is so exciting about it. That we are going to be all over the world. We are going to be releasing fresh, new stuff constantly. And playing new music and new songs. Like that’s what it is going to be all about.

“It’s going to be on a different level from now on.”

The four-piece band- Ryan Hennessy, Jimmy Rainsford, Owen Cardiff and Cliff Deane were the biggest Irish act of 2017, with their debut album staying at the top of the charts for four weeks.

But that doesn’t mean there are no nerves.

Speaking about the jitters before releasing their new sound Jimmy said: “We’ve known about it for a good while, so we’ve had the excitement of it and the nervousness happen and now after announcing it to the world there is a new nervousness of like is this going to be well accepted and received so yeah we are nervous and excited but this is an amazing time for us.

“It (the album) has progressed a lot it has become a lot more international. We’ve made more of a stamp on who we actually are in this album. Like this is the most Picture This album ever.

He continued: “The first album is kind of like, it just happens and you are a band and you have an album and just songs happen but this one we have had time to think about it technically and musically and content wise and context wise like doing what we really love.

“And this is what we really love.”
