WANTS MR HIGGINS TO GIVE AN EXPLANATION

Sean Gallagher, a Sunday Business Post/red C Poll said. Some 68% of indicated they will give Mr Higgins their vote compared to 12% for Mr Gallagher.

Mr Higgins’ support has increased the power of their female charm – when they should be impressed by it.

It happens more often in cut-throat careers, such as politics and in media – I’ve heard it first-hand many times and on occasion, directed at myself.

“That one pulled herself up by her bra straps” is a favourite – an accusation famously levelled at Madonna. An attractive and talented colleague of mine was once subject to catty gossip about her having an affair with the boss. It was other women who were spreading the lie.

How bad for the perception of by 1% since last month’s poll, while Mr Gallagher’s fell by three points. Sinn Fein candidate Ms Ni Riada came in at 9%, with Joan Freeman behind with 6%, Gavin Duffy with 3% and Peter Casey last on 2%. The Red C intercompetitor women in the workplace is that? Could we not consider she was capable of doing it off her own steam? Surely it would be better to congratulate a fellow female for her hard work and success?

To belittle Ms Freeman for getting financial support from an ex is hypocritical, snide, toxic, and sexist – and a sanctimonious grab for the supposed moral high ground.

It was a prudish, judgemental, selfrighteous remark about a woman’s private relationships, made as a means to tear down. Ms Ni Riada, I am certain, is far better than that. I think it says a viewed a sample of 1,000 adults by telephone between October 11 and October 17, before the first televised debate. It is the third Red C poll in a row that has indicated Mr Higgins will secure somewhere between 67% and lot about Ms Freeman, a psychologist and mental health activist, that US businessman Des Walsh, a boyfriend from her teenage years, still holds her in such high regard.

It’s an achievement to stay friends with your ex for such a long time, through many life changes. He must have some belief in her to help fund her presidential bid.

Ms Freeman called it a “below the belt” remark, and said it was “totally unnecessary… my husband of 36 years is in the audience here. The boyfriend I had at 19 years of age has no impact on 70%. The polls suggest Mr Higgins could win on the first count. His lead is across all demographic groups, in particular younger people.

Reports today say the work included landscaping which hardly falls under security LIADH NI RIADA

who I am today.” Ms Ni Riada later apologised – publicly and to her – saying it was flippant and she didn’t mean it to be derogatory.

But she had revealed a prejudice, and it is damaging to her credibility as a feminist. It was seen as an attack on a fellow woman, at a time when they would have been far better off supporting each other.

It’s admirable Ms Ni Riada apologised. In future, she might think more before judging women for their personal lives – in a way men are never judged.
