COLEMAN’S POP AT ANDREWS

-

Doubts persist over the Irish assistant manager’s chances of getting back into club football due to his temperament and relationship with players.

Wright knew all about Keane’s robust nature from the 1990s when his Arsenal side and Keane’s Manchester United were the top dogs of the Premier League.

But he feels Keane’s fiery nature shouldn’t be a deterrent to his ambitions of returning to club management.

The Corkman, 47, hasn’t job to do. I’ve heard Keith saying it’s the worst Ireland team he’s seen in a long time and

I’m not quite sure about that.

“We’re going through a tough time but Keith Andrews (inset) has been part of teams himself that could’ve been questioned at times.

“It’s very easy from a pundit’s position. We’ve just got to do our job and we are a group that’s together. I do have to bite my tongue at times. Look, Keith has got a job to do, Keith has really taken to punditry. He might have been trying to make a name for himself by being a little bit harsh and that’s his job, that’s his role.” Coleman, 30, added on Newstalk: “When he was a player, it was job to get on the ball and make things happen. And at times he didn’t do that, so it’s difficult. But as players we are all together, we want to be as passionate as we can for our country and sometimes it is hard to take, that criticism.”
