CRISTIANO RONALDO returns to Manchester United tonight – determined to pile fresh misery on his former club.

Ronaldo, who spent six years at United, makes his second return to Old Trafford since leaving in 2009, aiming to heap pressure on under-fire Reds boss Jose Mourinho.

Ronaldo – back from a one-match Champions League ban – is determined to prove his enduring class in front of his old club.

“I’m glad to be back,” said a smiling Ronaldo, 33, at Old Trafford ahead of tonight’s encounter.

“We have six points, it doesn’t matter if I play or if I was sent off, the most important thing is that we have six points and we’re in a good position.

“But United are a good team and they play at home. But we have our weapons. We are Juventus and we have a chance. We have to respect United, they are a fantastic team with an experienced coach, but I expect us to win.”

United, who were held at home by Valencia in their last group game, will be without Alexis Sanchez (above), as they look to build on Saturday’s impressive Premier League display in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

“Our form was shown in the past two matches,” said Mourinho. “The way we want to play, the way we can play was shown in the past two matches. So let’s try to do it again.”

The manager dismissed claims linking him with a return to Real Madrdid.

He added: “My future is here – until the final day of my contract I will only think about Manchester United.

“I am happy to stay here longer than that.”
