Bohs were good up to Midpoint..
Bohemians U19 FC Midtjylland U19 (Midtjylland win 4-2 on agg)
1 2 FC MIDTJYLLAND’S second-half comeback at Dalymount Park last night ended the brief Youth UEFA Champions League experience for Bohemians.
At half-time, Craig Sexton’s side were on their way to becoming the first Irish team to hurdle a round in the competition when Ali Reghba’s penalty gave them the lead on away goals.
However, Casper Tengstedt’s penalty and an own-goal by Mitchell Byrne killed the dream of the Gypsies before a crowd of 1,563.
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Herning, Bohs knew a 1-0 victory would secure their passage to the second round and they began with purpose.
Reghba, the first-team striker attracting the interest of Leicester City and Middlesbrough, used his pace to stretch the visitors in the opening half hour.
And Byrne could have made the breakthrough when he wriggled free of his marker at the back post to meet Steven Nolan’s cross eight yards out only to scuff his volley.
It was all Bohs in the latter stages of the half and the pressure led to the award of a penalty.
Full-back Andy Lyons, was bundled over by FC Midtjylland captain Sery Japhet Larsen and up stepped Reghba to rifle the spot-kick home.
But it proved to be a night of penalties at the Shopping Centre end as eight minutes after the interval Swiss referee Lionel Tschudi adjudged Bohs goalkeeper Sean Bohan to have tripped Tengstedt in the box.
Bohan went the right way yet couldn’t keep out the Dane’s attempt.
Byrne was then unfortunate as he turned Tengstedt’s low cross in from close range to seal the Gypsies’ fate.
