Store’s top floors PRIMARK is set to rise from the ashes after planning consent to rebuild was approved yesterday.

Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee approved the store’s listed building consent application for Bank Buildings.

And the retailer is now ready to start the work and a walkway should be in place within weeks. Led by a team of conservationists, builders will now take down the top two floors.

A Primark spokesman said: “We are starting immediately and we anticipate work will be on-going over a number of months.”

Committee chairman Matt Garrett added: “There is now an urgency for businesses, inside and outside the cordon, to ensure economic resilience.”

ON MISSION TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE HIM

X FACTOR star Brendan Murray has confessed he was “disheartened” after Simon Cowell criticised his performance last week.

The Co Galway singer, 21, takes to the stage again tonight and hopes to impress the pop mogul following his “boring” rendition of Ariana Grande’s hit Break Free.

Brendan is to belt out Cher’s classic song Believe – but he admitted it has been difficult to perform. He told the Irish Mirror: “It’s actually going very good but it’s tough because I’m facing a big song this week. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pull it out of the bag.”

Brendan said he and his mentor Louis Tomlinson chose the dance anthem after criticism over last week’s track.

He added: “I think the song is going to vocally suit me a lot better. It’ll show a lot of me and hopefully put me across well.” Despite Simon’s criticism, the apprentice plumber is still one of the frontrunners in the competition, with bookies listing odds of 7/1 for him to win.

But the former Eurovision contestant said he isn’t paying any attention to the betting stakes.

He added: “It’s a very unpredictable situation… you could be kicked out at any minute so you need to enjoy every minute.”

The X Factor airs on Virgin Media One Saturday & Sunday night from 8pm.
